Ahead of the amusing sketch, host Samantha Bee — who dubbed the emails FBI director "James Comey's flaming bag of October surprise" — introduced the Emmy-winning actress, 41, as the TBS comedy show's "best new intern" performing her "one-woman show" titled "Hillary's Emails: Yes I Am Up."
As dark piano music played, Paulson took the stage and recited a small selection of the 69-year-old Democratic presidential candidate's rather dull late-night emails.
"Here's my question: on this new [Blackberry] can I get smiley faces?" Clinton wrote to Philippe Reines, her deputy assistant secretary of state for strategic communications, at 2:55 a.m. in February 2012.
In another set of emails, Clinton requests, "Can you give me times for two TV shows? Parks and Recreation and The Good Wife," and ponders, "Gefilte fish — where are we on this?"
The American Crime Story star closed the skit by repeating one of the former secretary of state's most frequent demands: "Please print. Please print in bigger print. Please print for me. Please print."
As previously reported, Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign was plagued by the infamous email scandal for more than a year. She was first probed by the FBI in 2015 after it was revealed that she deleted tens of thousands of email messages from a private server while secretary of state. The FBI closed the investigation in July 2016, recommending no charges. Then, 11 days before Election Day, additional emails were uncovered, but the FBI said on November 6 that the agency didn't change its previous conclusion.
Full Frontal With Samantha Bee airs on TBS Mondays at 10:30 p.m. ET.
