Selena Gomez Rates Herself a Seven, Still Figuring Out Who She Is: Watch Her Ellen DeGeneres Interview

Introspective interview! It’s been a whirlwind year for Selena Gomez, who voluntarily checked herself into rehab in January for an undisclosed reason and has been in an on-again, off-again romance with former boyfriend Justin Bieber. Though some have expressed worries about the former Disney star’s sexualized image and her time spent around the bad boy, she appeared very level-headed during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Monday, Oct. 13.

When the host, 56, asked Gomez, 22, how she would rate herself, the “Come & Get It” singer replied, “I’m a seven. I feel like I have been doing this for so long that people are like, ‘Be yourself, be yourself,’ and I’m still trying to figure out who that is. I know I’m not perfect, but I know that I have a lot of people that support me and love me. I don’t want to let anyone down so I just try to be the best I can be. It’s awkward being 20.”

Part of coming into her own for Gomez has been making some major life changes. In April, she fired her mom Mandy Teefey and stepdad Brian Teefey as her managers, replacing them with Bradford Cobb, who also manages Katy Perry. In addition to the career switch-ups, Gomez  moved into her own house in Los Angeles with a close friend from her hometown in Texas.

“It’s good, yeah, I can walk around naked now and stuff,” Gomez joked of having her own space. “Honestly, I just enjoy not being able to have to check in all the time. My mom is the sweetest ever so even now she checks in on me.”

Up next? If her bestie Taylor Swift has her way, Gomez will be moving into yet another new pad in New York City.

“Yes, she wants to kidnap me,” the Behaving Badly actress said of her Grammy-winning pal. “She’s been begging me every time I get on the phone with her to move to New York because it’s been a really good thing for her. We’ve been friends for seven years, and she really feels like she stepped into her own and became a woman there. She’s like, ‘Alright, your turn. now come on.’ I feel like I might eventually, but not right now.”
