Actor Steve Guttenberg and his ex-wife Emily Guttenberg have finalized their divorce a year after their split was confirmed.
According to court documents exclusively obtained by Us Weekly on Friday, May 29, the exes entered into a settlement agreement on March 17.
Steve, 67, agreed to a $700,000 spousal support buyout paid to his ex. He will be able to keep all of his earnings before and during the marriage and post-separation. The Three Men and a Baby actor will also keep all cash and personal belongings, including clothing, jewelry, watches and other personal effects.
Although Steve and Emily had property in the Pacific Palisades during the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, their home was spared thanks to firefighters.
Steve will keep the home as part of the judgment, but Emily can visit “for the purpose of inspecting her personal property and taking with her any of her clothing” and “to arrange for her property to be moved into a storage facility.”
Finally, the actor will be able to keep all art, collectibles, antiques, furniture, fixtures, appliances, electronics and furnishings in his possession. He will also hold all assets in 16 accounts and all residuals and royalties stemming from his film projects.
Emily, who signed a prenup with Steve in June 2018 ahead of their January 2019 wedding, will keep all of her earnings prior to and during the marriage and post-separation. She will also hold access to a few bank accounts and her cars. Any joint accounts will be split equally.
Steve will pay the monthly lease payments on Emily’s 2024 BMW x3 and the monthly insurance premiums for the lease. He will also pay for the cost to move and store her personal property until she finds a place to live, per court docs.
For the next month, Steve has also agreed to pay for his ex to continue to stay at a luxurious hotel for $2,000 a month and spend up to $5,000 a month on his credit card until she finds an apartment by July 1.
“For so long as [Emily] continues to reside at the Ritz Carlton … the incidental charges [she] incurs shall be paid by [Steve’s credit] card up to $2,000 per month,” court documents stated. “[He will] continue to allow [his ex] to charge on his [credit] card up to $5,000 per month until she vacates the Ritz Carlton and is living in an apartment.”
Steve filed for divorce in April 2025 after six years of marriage. At the time, he cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The actor met Emily, a news anchor, on a blind date in 2014 set up by a WCBS-TV correspondent. The pair announced their engagement in December 2016 after celebrating Christmas together.
“I don’t want to give these things a jinx, but she makes me a better person, which I really like. I have to up my game around her,” Steve gushed about Emily during a 2017 interview with the Daily Beast. “She’s a very classy lady. She creates a wonderful home, her value system is terrific, and her character and integrity, and sense of humor … she’s a really nice lady.”
Steve was previously married to model and actress Denise Bixler from 1988 to 1992.
