The man who got into a physical fight with Tarek El Moussa in Las Vegas earlier this month reportedly told police that he wants to press charges.
According to documents obtained by Us Weekly on Wednesday, June 18, the 51-year-old man made the statement to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department following the June 5 altercation. An incident report identified the man only as the “victim” in the fight and described surveillance footage of the altercation in The Palazzo at The Venetian Resort.
According to the report, El Moussa, 43, allegedly “charged” at the man and “shoved him” after the man interacted with his elderly father. The man “shoved him back and they both took a fighting stance. The [man] then appeared to go for a takedown at the legs of [Tarek],” who struck the man with his knee and caused him to fall to the floor. El Moussa allegedly “mounted his back” and “threw 3 more strikes with his fist to the head of [the victim] before getting up and walking away.”
Police stated that the man suffered a “purple and reddish” bruise beneath his right eye and a half-inch cut on his nose. El Moussa was cited for battery instead of being detained due to using “physical force,” which left the man with “visible injuries.”
When police interviewed him, El Moussa alleged that the man “hit his dad on the back with his hand” and so he “got out of his chair to confront [him] to protect his dad due to him having back problems.”
The victim, meanwhile, recalled to police that “someone he did not know approached him aggressively and hit him. He admitted to defending himself and told police that he didn’t know exactly what happened but he wanted to press charges.”
Us has reached out to El Moussa for comment.
Earlier this month, Us confirmed that the HGTV star had been in Vegas with his parents and wife Heather Rae El Moussa. The family were in Sin City in support of Tarek’s speaking event.
“Not our average Vegas trip … 🎰💎🖤 Watched Tarek do his thing on stage (so proud!) and made it extra special by bringing our parents along for the ride,” Heather wrote via Instagram on June 6, documenting the two-day getaway.
The Selling Sunset alum revealed, “We got to show them a glimpse behind the scenes — our world, our work, and of course, the glam.”
