There used to be mad love! Miley Cyrus may have slammed Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” music video in her recent Marie Claire cover story, questioning how the clip’s “violence revenge” story line was “a good example,” but the pair were once good pals.
In fact, Swift, now 25, had a cameo in 2009’s Hannah Montana: The Movie, and the costars performed Swift’s “Fifteen” together at the 2009 Grammys. In April of that year, Swift did a promotional interview for her role in Hannah Montana, gushing about Cyrus, now 22, and the Disney franchise’s success.
“It’s so cool to become a part of the Hannah Montana phenomenon that’s taking over the world right now,” a curly haired Swift said in the clip. “Miley is pretty much the same person off camera that you see on camera. She is so outgoing and everything is big and huge and awesome. She’s just such a positive person. She’s not reserved. She doesn’t hold anything back, which is one of my favorite things about her.”
The “Wrecking Ball” singer certainly didn’t hold back in her recent cover story. Pointing out Swift’s star-studded “Bad Blood” music video, which features the pop superstar and her girl squad out for vengeance against a former ally, the 2015 MTV VMAs host noted, “I don’t get the violence revenge thing. That’s supposed to be a good example? And I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my titties out? I’m not sure how titties are worse than guns.”
Briefly after the single was released in 2014, fans speculated that it was about Cyrus, but Us Weekly confirmed that Katy Perry was the subject of Swift’s feudy tune.
