Blurred Lines. Don’t expect rapper T.I. to endorse a female candidate for president any time soon. During a recent radio interview with DJ Whoo Kid, T.I., 35, noted that he is not lending his celebrity support to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“Not to be sexist, but I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman,” he said. “Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally — they make very permanent, cemented decisions — and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen.”
He went on to note the potentially irreversible implications of having a female president.
“I sure would hate to just set off a nuke. [Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet,” he said. “I think you might be able to [get] the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”
As for controversial Republican candidate Donald Trump, T.I. thought the businessman could be “beneficial” to the American people if he is “sincerely concerned about the economy of America.” But he would not lend his support to the New Yorker due to his racist remarks.
Following the interview, T.I. took to Twitter to apologize for his statement, tweeting, “My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.”
