Well, we’re guessing Tim Gunn is going to RSVP no to Kris Jenner’s 60th birthday bash set for Friday night. The Project Runway mentor slammed the Kardashians as “vulgar” during an interview with The Huffington Post, and called Kanye West’s clothing designs “basic.”
“I think they’re a bunch of dumb clothes,” Gunn honestly answered when asked about Kim Kardashian’s husband’s clothing line. “Just basic pieces…He won’t [like that comment], but let me tell you, the whole Kardashian clan doesn’t like me, so no surprise there.”
As for why the fashion guru isn’t a fan of the Kardashians?
“There are large issues [with the Kardashians] for me, such as why? Why?,” a quizzical Gunn said. “But when it comes to fashion, I say to people all the time ‘If you want guidance in fashion, just consider this: If a Kardashian is wearing it, don’t.’ I think it’s vulgar. Given the amount of public exposure that the Kardashians have to potentially be sending the message to people that you, too, can dress like this — no!”
Supermodel Kendall Jenner, and arguably the most modest member of the family, wasn’t safe from his critique either.
“I think absolutely nothing [of her] to be perfectly honest,” Gunn quipped of the 20-year-old. “And I’m assuming there’s a huge, perhaps million dollar-a-month publicity wagon that is pulling these girls along and creating these lives for them. I’m distrustful of it and I find it all distasteful.”
“I shouldn’t say that she doesn’t [have ‘it’],” he continued about whether she has the “it” factor for modeling. “I don’t know her — she may be a perfectly lovely young woman. I just feel that she’s tainted by the Kardashian aura of yuck!”
This isn’t the first time that Gunn has shared his strong sentiments about the family. Gunn sat down with Us Weekly for a video interview and after reading Kim’s book Selfish, he admitted: “I feel my IQ is plummeting.”
