Ah, so that’s the price of beauty. Tom Brady announced the release of his limited-edition, super-healthy $200 cookbook on Wednesday, May 4, prompting skeptics to wonder what could possibly be in the pages of the pricey tome.
According to a post that the New England Patriots quarterback posted to Facebook, the cookbook is a “living document” that contains “information about [Brady’s company TB12’s] nutritional philosophies and a library of 89 seasonally-inspired recipes.”
The entries include healthy favorites such as avocado ice cream, sweet potato gnocchi and carrot cake.
Boston.com reports that the cover will be made of natural maple and laser-etched with the “TB12” logo, and will even feature special binding that will allow the buyer to insert new recipes.
In January, Brady and wife Gisele Bündchen’s chef Allen Campbell opened up about the power couple’s strict diet and how they both stay in such tip-top shape.
“[Eighty] percent of what they eat is vegetables,” Campbell told Boston.com. “[I buy] the freshest vegetables. If it’s not organic, I don’t use it. And whole grains: brown rice, quinoa, millet, beans. The other 20 percent is lean meats: grass-fed organic steak, duck every now and then, and chicken. As for fish, I mostly cook wild salmon.”
The laundry list of things the pair are not allowed to eat includes white sugar, white flour, MSG, coffee, caffeine, olive oil, iodized salt, fungus, dairy and nightshade vegetables (read: tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant etc.).
Brady founded TB12 with his longtime body coach Alex Guerrero as a way to help athletes get into their best physical shape and prevent injuries in a holistic way.
