Travis Kelce will have a subtle nod to his fiancée, Taylor Swift, when his new restaurant opens.
Kelce, 35, and Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes are set to open their 1587 Prime steakhouse in Kansas City, Missouri, next month and are teasing some of the tasty food and beverages they will be serving up via the eatery’s Instagram account.
On Thursday, August 28, the 1587 Prime Instagram shared a video of Kelce and Mahomes, 29, sampling a cocktail named “The Alchemy,” which also happens to be the name of a football pun-filled track on Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, released last year.
“This is The Alchemy,” a bartender can be heard saying as he presents the football players with a cocktail infused with cucumber, orange peel and rose buds.
Swift’s track “The Alchemy,” meanwhile, appears to be inspired by her romance with Kelce. The song is an ode to a burgeoning love and evokes football imagery of touchdowns, winning streaks and trophies.
“So when I touch down / Call the amateurs and / Cut ’em from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown / Baby, I’m the one to beat,” Swift sings on the track. “Cause the sign on your heart / Said it’s still reserved for me / Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”
As for 1587 Prime, the Kansas City eatery is set to open its doors on September 17.
Kelce’s sweet homage to Swift comes after the couple announced their engagement on Tuesday, August 26.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the pair captioned a joint Instagram post showing the moment Kelce got down on one knee and popped the question.
Kelce presented the singer with an old mine brilliant cut diamond set on a gold band with more small stones. The ring was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
Jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia estimated the ring to be worth $950,000 to $1,270,000. “The stone itself looks to be easily in the 7–10 carat range, which immediately places it among the most iconic celebrity engagement rings,” the Abelini founder told Us Weekly.
Swift had her ring on full display on Thursday, August 28, as the newly-engaged couple watched a college football game at the Chiefs’ home field, Arrowhead Stadium, in Kansas City.
