While Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis only has eyes for Allie Hayes on Off Campus, actor Stephen Kalyn is taken by his real-life love interest, Victoria Lovatsis.
“My fiancée has read all the books, so she actually kind of told me about them when she read them. I actually remember her reading, specifically, The Score one time,” Kalyn told Pedestrian TV in a May 2026 interview, referring to Dean and Allie’s literary love story. “I remember I kept looking at her and she’d read the book, but she’d always be [glancing over at me]. I’m like, ‘What are you reading?’ She’s like, ‘Oh, nothing.’”
The actor continued, “She’s been a huge player and motivating me to get there and get here right now. So, yeah, it’s really, really, really, really cool.”

How Long Have Stephen Kalyn and Victoria Lovatsis Been Together?
Kalyn and Lovatsis made their Instagram debut in 2017 — their fifth anniversary as a couple.
“Five years later and I still love you more than ever 😌,” Lovatsis wrote via Instagram in January 2017, sharing a throwback pic of the pair kissing.

Kalyn, completed with a blond dye job, brings Dean to life on Off Campus, the Prime Video series adapted from author Elle Kennedy’s hockey romance series.
“From the moment I got the audition, I just felt like I knew this person. I was so confident in what I wanted to bring to this part,” Kalyn told Elite Daily in May 2026. “My fiancée read the books a long time ago, and her favorite character was Dean. So when they announced this show, she told me I had to audition. She said, ‘There’s no other option: You have to be Dean.’”
Lovatsis got her wish, with Kalyn scoring the role.
What Is Dean’s Arc in ‘Off Campus?’
Dean and Allie (Mika Abdalla) take center stage in Kennedy’s third Off Campus book, The Score. The start of their love story is also featured in season 1 of the Prime Video series, which was based on The Deal.
“Even though we do tease Dean and Allie a lot earlier than people expect, you are still left wanting a lot more,” Abdalla exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2026. “That’s something I’m really excited about. You just want to see more.”
The Deal is Kennedy’s book starring Briar University hockey captain Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and music major Hannah Wells (Ella Bright). Given that Dean and Allie are Garrett and Hannah’s respective best friends, it made sense to Adballa that their arc would be featured in season 1.
“Allie and Hannah’s story lines are so connected to one another that it just made a lot of sense to touch on that this season,” she told Us. “All the books, they build off of each other and they’re all connected. It didn’t really make sense to not include certain elements from the other books in this season.”
Off Campus season 1 ended with Dean asking to monogamously date Allie, who recently hooked up with his high school nemesis Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans). The show has already been renewed for a second season, though it’s not known whether Dean, Logan (Antonio Cipriano) or Tucker (Jalen Thomas Brooks) will take the lead next.
