Will Friedle’s milestone 50th birthday party was a perfect opportunity for the Boy Meets World cast to reunite.
Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga Lawrence in the show, took to Instagram on Sunday, August 16, to share moments from Friedle’s lavish party, which several of her former cast members attended. In one pic, Fishel, 45, posed with Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter, and Matthew Lawrence, who played his brother, Jack Hunter, in a photo booth. She also hugged Natanya Ross, who appeared in one episode, and snapped pics with Dan McNulty.
“Last night we celebrated my best friend Will Friedle’s 50th birthday with the Prom party he never had,” Fishel captioned the post. “We took it back to 1994 with a killer playlist, an A+ actor pretending to be his vice principal Mr. Nedonovich, unhinged costumes and so much love in the room thanks to incredible friends & family. We love you so much, Will. You have a Finsta so I know you’ll see this.”
Ahead of his birthday party, Friedle opened up about his Boy Meets World family attending his party. “It’s gonna be a ton of fun,” he said during an episode of his “Pod Meets World” podcast earlier this month, which he hosts with Fishel and Strong, 46. “This might be the biggest gathering of Boy Meets World cast and crew since the show ended.”

Friedle, who played Eric Matthews in the show, celebrated another trip around the sun amid the cast’s drama with Ben Savage, who starred as the show’s lead, Cory Matthews. After the sitcom wrapped, Savage, 45, distanced himself, leaving the rest of the cast confused.
In 2023, Friedle told Variety that they hadn’t spoken in three years. “He disappeared — I wish I knew why, to this day,” he shared. “We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity. He just woke up one day, and decided ‘I don’t want this person in my life anymore.’”
Friedle added that he made many attempts to reach out to Savage, who apparently did not respond. He claimed he sent him a text that read, “I’ve known you for 30 years, what’s going on? I’m gonna call you every day until you tell me not to call you anymore.” After a month of trying, Friedle said he gave up.
Strong also claimed that he, Fishel and Friedle invited Savage to be a host on their podcast, which he denied. “Ben refused to do the [‘Pod Meets World’ recap] podcast, but we still communicated with him, still on friendly terms, we thought,” Strong said during the Boy Meets World documentary, which premiered in June. “He unfollowed us on Instagram and blocked our phone numbers. I feel sorry that he’s missing out on the experience that Danielle and Will and I are having.”
Savage has never publicly addressed the distance between him and his former costars after he took a step back from Hollywood.
