Not everything’s cool in the Kardashian-Jenner household. Caitlyn Jenner was noticeably absent from Khloé Kardashian’s birthday bash in Hollywood on Monday, June 27, and sources tell Us Weekly that her no-show was telling.
“Caitlyn and Khloé aren’t currently speaking,” sources tell Us. “Because they aren’t as close, it wouldn’t make sense for Caitlyn to be there. That being said, if Caitlyn really wanted to come, Khloé would have allowed her because she wouldn’t have wanted to hurt Kendall and Kylie.”
Koko’s 32nd birthday extravaganza guest list included all of the Kardashian-Jenner girls — Kim, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie — and even an appearance by brother Rob and soon-to-be sister-in-law Blac Chyna, who looked happy to be a part of the celebration.
The former Kocktails With Khloé host and Caitlyn, 66, famously butted heads after Khloé claimed during a January interview with SiriusXM’s Howard Stern that the I Am Cait star lied to the family about her transition.
“People would think that we were lying.… But no, we believed him,” she explained of Caitlyn, adding that she and the rest of the family first found out about the former Olympian’s plans to transition during a business meeting. “They mentioned Bruce had a television show about transitioning, and that’s the first we heard of it.… We felt betrayed because more businesspeople [knew].”
Khloé also added that, at the time, Caitlyn’s decision to keep her big news from the family felt like a stab in the back.
“We felt so, like, what the f‑‑k!” she said. “We’ve been asking you, and why do [business]people know? I never want someone to feel like they have a one-up on our family. We’ve never turned our backs on each other yet with all the clusterf‑‑ks of s‑‑t in our lives, so why would we now?”
In May, a scene on the season 12 premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians showed a stressed Kris Jenner on the phone with her ex, who was understandably furious over Khloé’s comments and had sent her stepdaughter some angry texts.
“Well, she’s out there talking s‑‑t about me,” Caitlyn said angrily over the phone. “See, now, I don’t want her talking about me, OK? You don’t go on f‑‑king Howard Stern, call me a liar.”
“She was doing interviews, and I don’t think she really thought about the fact that you might come up,” Kris replied before breaking down in tears. “We’re the parents, we have to be the bigger force of their emotional stability.”
