Harry arrived in a gray blazer, a blue sweater over a white button-down shirt, black pants and suede shoes, while Markle wore a beige Mackage coat, a white Victoria Beckham top, a green Greta Constantine skirt and velvet Manolo Blahnik pumps.
The engaged couple first visited the Eikon Exhibition Centre to celebrate the Amazing the Space peace-building initiative that Harry launched when he visited Ireland for the first time in September. “You’re trying to educate the older generation, which is just amazing,” Harry told the schoolchildren who gathered at the venue. “Well done. Clean the slate, guys. You got this!”
The pair watched performances by the schoolchildren and listened to young people talk about the reconciliation work in Northern Ireland. They later met with 19-year-old singer Emma Horan. When Belfast clergyman Rev. David Latimer suggested that Horan could sing at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, the royal grinned and his fiancée clapped her hands.
Ryan McCallion, a 17-year-old who welcomed the couple to the exhibition center, said he was impressed by them. “They were so humble and down to earth,” he said. “I felt they’d be up on this pedestal but they brought us together and made us feel almost equal. They were really interested in what we were doing.”
Harry ordered sausage and champ during a private lunch at the saloon, while Markle ate the signature Irish stew. They asked to sample the local beer and ordered half a pint of Guinness and the Mourne Mountain Brewery gold ale. “It’s amazing, it really is,” he said of the ornate bar. “It’s on people’s bucket lists, isn’t it? Does it take quite a lot of work to keep it looking like this?”
The duo spoke with Titanic FX founder Nuala Campbell and entrepreneur Eoin Lambkin while taking a tour of Catalyst Inc. During the visit, Markle gestured at an array of baby equipment and said, “I am sure at one point we will need the whole thing.”
The surprise visit to Belfast is just one stop on the couple’s pre-wedding agenda. They previously traveled to places including Nottingham, England, in December and Edinburgh, Scotland, in February. They will walk down the aisle at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19. The invitations for the royal wedding were sent out earlier this week.
