Killing it! Britney Spears slayed during her comeback performance at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden in NYC on Sunday, August 28.
The “Gimme More” singer, 34, looked radiant in a head-turning sparkly yellow bodysuit that featured a down-to-there neckline with silver rhinestone details reminiscent of her “Toxic” music video. The mom of Sean Preston, 10, and Jayden James, 9, paired the glittering ensemble with matching over-the-knee boots.
During her performance, the “Clumsy” singer writhed on stage as larger-than-life hands reached out to her. “We wanted to do something different, something I’ve never done before,” Spears told Z100’s Elvis Duran of her performance the next day. “That was probably the coolest thing we could come up with.”
She and rapper G-Eazy served up their new hit “Make Me…” for fans right after Beyoncé‘s Lemonade medley. “Oh, he’s so sweet!” Spears said of her relationship with the hip-hop star, 27. “He’s got a lot of swag; he’s got the whole cool thing going on.”
One thing that wasn’t as cool? His attempt to smooch Spears during their much-talked-about performance. Though the pair grinded against each other and Spears even placed her hand over his crotch at one point, the “Lucky” singer wasn’t about to lock lips with him. Viewers witnessed the chart-topping diva clearly pushing her partner away and shaking her head no when he made his advance.
But he may still have an in — via Spears’ sons. “My kids think he’s fricken so cool!” she shared. “They’re like, ‘Mom! You’re cool now!’ I’m like, ‘Thanks! That’s all I had to do!'”
