Kristopher Karolkiewicz likely killed his wife, Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, before he fatally shot their six children in an apparent murder-suicide.
Death certificates obtained by News 8 revealed that Kristopher, 47, Mandy, 39, and their six kids were found dead after they were shot in the head at their home in Grand Haven, Michigan.
Ottawa Sheriff’s Office Captain Jacob Sparks told the outlet that evidence from the investigation and the autopsy results suggest that Mandy “likely died earlier than the children.”
Mandy’s death certificate lists her date of death as “on or after” July 23. Meanwhile, authorities said that Kristopher and the six children died the following day on July 24.
“We don’t have an exact timeline yet and are still working to establish that,” Sparks added.
While their times of death are marked “unknown,” the documents indicate that each family member died immediately or within seconds of being shot.
Authorities also told the outlet that their bodies were found in different bedrooms throughout the family’s home.
After Kristopher shot all of his family members, he reportedly set their house on fire. Three dogs and a cat ultimately died in the blaze, according to officials.
The Ottawa Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment regarding the latest developments in the case.
Two years before the murder-suicide, Mandy shared a glimpse into her and Kristopher’s alleged marital problems in a series of Reddit threads. She claimed in one post that Kristopher previously cheated on her with an intern, and she admitted it was hard it was to move on from the situation.
Several of Mandy’s family members have paid tribute to the beloved mother and shared insight into who she was as a person.
Mandy’s mother, Becky Lawwill, and her stepdad, Steve Lawwill, told Fox 17 that their daughter “was a kind and devoted soul.” They added that Mandy, who worked as a substitute teacher, “loved her family and her students.”
Meanwhile, her dad, Gary Anderson, said that he loves Mandy and her six children. “In a way, I still love Kris,” Anderson told The Detroit News in a Friday, July 31, interview.
Anderson went on to admit that he was still struggling “to understand” why the horrific incident took place.
“I’m sure that will come out in the future. I have no idea why,” he continued. “Speculation is what I have a disdain for. It’s very clear that he did what he did.”
