OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney is expected to accept a plea deal with prosecutors after she was arrested for killing her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, in 2022.
Clenney’s lawyer, Frank Prieto, told TMZ on Friday, July 31, that Clenney, 30, reached a deal in the case after she was accused of fatally stabbing Obumseli, 27. However, he did not specify any details of the deal and her sentence has not yet been publicly shared.
Prieto did not immediately respond to Us’ request for comment regarding the major update in the case.
The plea deal was agreed to shortly before the case was scheduled to go to court in August.
Clenney was charged with second-degree murder days after Obumseli was killed on August 10, 2022. She previously argued that she killed him in self-defense, claiming that she threw a knife at him in their Miami apartment. Additionally, Clenney had insisted that she never intended to kill Obumseli.
Us previously reported that Clenney’s legal team planned to use text messages she exchanged with Obumseli to prove he was abusive in their relationship during the trial.
Clenney claimed that Obumseli was abusive at least nine times over the period in which they were dating, according to a filing earlier this month. She even claimed that he punched her in the face and fractured her ribs just months before she killed him, according to the filing obtained by The New York Post.
In one of the texts included in the filing, Clenney accused Obumseli of hitting her “in my face as hard as you could” in April 2021. Obumseli allegedly downplayed the allegations and insisted he was just trying to move her hand and “really didn’t mean” to hit her.
Another exchange in August 2021 showed Clenney allegedly texting Obumseli that he had been “punching me in the back” and “attacking me” following an argument.
Her lawyers claimed in the filing that the texts were sent immediately after he allegedly attacked her, and they argued that the messages proved Clenney’s claims that he was abusive.
“Obumseli repeatedly engaged in a pattern of physical violence, intimidation, threats, stalking, controlling behavior, coercive control, manipulation, and emotional abuse,” the court documents state. “Courtney’s testimony will include numerous incidents in which Obumseli Struck, grabbed, shoved, restrained, choked and otherwise committed batteries against her.”
Before she was arrested, Clenney had a large following on social media. She had over 2 million followers on Instagram, as well as a popular presence on OnlyFans.
