It’s a girl for Josh and Anna Duggar! The couple documented the gender reveal party for their fourth child on the latest episode of 19 Kids and Counting, and learned whether they’d be adding a younger brother or sister to their growing brood.
The Secret
Anna hired an ultrasound tech to visit the family’s Washington, D.C. abode to allow her three older children to see their youngest sibling in an ultrasound. The tech then wrote the gender down on a piece of paper and sealed it in an envelope so they could open it in front of family at their Arkansas baby shower. “It was such a fun bonding experience for our whole family,” Anna said.
Boy vs. Girl
“I want mommy to have a little girl because we have two boys and so I need another little sister,” oldest Duggar grandchild Mackynzie said. But papa Josh hoped he’d have another little mini-me. “I really think it’s going to be a boy,” he said.
Blast From the Past
Josh and Anna were heading to California for a trip alone before their newest addition, so they stopped in Arkansas first to drop off their three kiddos with grandparents Jim Bob and Michelle. While there, they visited newlyweds Ben and Jessa Seewald, who live in the house where Josh and Anna lived when they were first married.
Fun fact: Both Mackynzie and Michael were literally born in that home. “I think it’s a place that has a lot of sentimental value to us,” Josh said as he and Anna saw the renovations Ben and Jessa made for the first time.
California Here We Come
When they finally arrived in California, Josh and Anna headed to Santa Monica for a fun day playing carnival games and going on rides on the pier. “I have to say, the weather is awesome,” Josh said.
Party Prep
Duggar family party planner extraordinaire, Sierra, who organized Jessa and Ben’s wedding, called a family meeting so the whole clan could get ready for Josh and Anna’s big event — complete with blue and pink plastic flamingos littered on the lawn. The boys were in charge of painting 100 of the flamingos blue, which turned into quite a process when they couldn’t find their paint sprayers.
The Big Reveal
Josh and Anna arrived home to discover homemade signs lining the road as they drove up to the Duggar homestead, where the flock of pink and blue flamingos awaited them. When they got inside, the family surprised them by shooting confetti into the air — the color? Pink! It’s a girl!
