‘9-1-1’ Cast Tease What They Hope Lies Ahead for Their Characters in Season 10 and Beyond  (Exclusive)

The cast of 9-1-1 are sharing hopes for their characters as they head into season 10 of their hit ABC series.

“Based upon the ending of season 9 for myself, I think [Buck] has come into a lot of new responsibility in his life, and it’s going to be a battle to see quite how he juggles all of that and contends with his work,” Oliver Stark, who plays Evan “Buck” Buckley, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Disney Upfronts 2026 red carpet earlier this week.

Stark’s character has come a long way since the show’s pilot, recently starting a surprising new chapter during the season 9 finale after he signed the papers to become 4-year-old Theo’s guardian. (Theo’s parents, who died in a car accident, were Buck’s friends. He had agreed to be their sperm donor.)

Ryan Guzman, meanwhile, admitted he has “no clue” where his character, Eddie Diaz, could be heading, but does have some ideas on his wish list. “If I could pick, I would love to have Eddie revisit his army days somehow, someway,” he said. “Or get a love interest.”

A “love interest” for Eddie could be divisive, as many fans have hoped that the single dad would get together with Buck after years of close friendship. Guzman noted he’s well aware a Buck and Eddie romance would make “a lot of people happy.”

The actors, however, are not in control of where the story goes. “We obviously don’t write the show, and we just play the scenes as they come to us,” Stark explained to Us before highlighting how “meaningful” the “reaction” to “Buddie” has been for both himself and Guzman. “We love how invested the audience is in that relationship, whatever you view it as. And we play it as it comes and as authentically and truthfully as possible.”

As for Aisha Hinds, whose character, Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, ended season 9 in a strong place after battling dermatomyositis — a rare, serious, and chronic autoimmune connective tissue disorder — she noted that anything is possible when it comes to 9-1-1.

“I couldn’t tell you where [Hen is] going,” she said with a laugh. “I mean, she went to space, she lost all faculties, like, she surfaced again. Where do we go from there? I don’t know!”

She is, however, excited to hopefully lend her expertise as a mom of two on the show to Buck as he navigates his new life with Theo (played by twins Lincoln and Teddy Sykes). Hen shares son Denny (Declan Pratt) and daughter Mara (Askyler Bell) with onscreen wife Karen (Tracie Thoms).

“I get to be an auntie, Auntie to Theo, you know?” she noted. “I get to watch Big Buck and Little Buck face off. That’ll be fun.”

All nine seasons of 9-1-1 are available to stream on Hulu.
