Adam Driver Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Jokes About America’s Funniest Cats and Golden Globes

Adam Driver on SNL

Adam Driver tested his sketch comedy chops hosting Saturday Night Live on Saturday, January 16, in a series of skits spanning the Golden Globes to faux video clip series, America’s Funniest Cats.

In one of the funniest sketches from the night, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor plays an excited TV writer who, alongside his wife (Vanessa Bayer) decides to have a wild night out at the Globes afterparty following their win.

Meanwhile, their two kids (Kyle Mooney and Kate McKinnon) are at home, tucking themselves into bed after Bayer’s character tells them during their acceptance speech, “If you’re watching this, go to bed.”

“Do you think Mommy and Daddy are thinking of us?” McKinnon’s character asks as Driver and Bayer’s overzealous Globes winners party with celebs, down shots, and snort cocaine.

“Yes,” Mooney’s character says from his bed, before turning away from his sister and whispering to himself, “I don’t know.”

Driver’s other hit skit of the night had him playing the prickly host of a fake TV clip show, America’s Funniest Cats, which involved Cecily Strong and McKinnon as two dour hosts of the French version.

When Driver asks the pair to narrate a funny clip of a cat with its head stuck in an ice cream carton, things go a little off-script.

“She’s quietly backing out of this world!” McKinnon’s character cries. “She will not be missed!” Strong’s character quips.
