If you didn’t get enough of Alexander Skarsgard’s perfectly defined abs in Wednesday’s first-look photos of the Swedish actor as the king of the jungle in The Legend of Tarzan, you’re in luck. The upcoming film’s first trailer, which also features the former True Blood star’s chiseled physique, offers a look at his core muscles in action.
In the teaser for the retelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic tale, Skarsgard, 39, races through the jungles of Africa, swings on vines, fights enemies, and leaps off cliffs — all while shirtless, naturally.
Perhaps even more amusingly, especially for fans of the actor’s hunky and funny vamp Eric Northman, Tarzan also sips tea like a proper gentleman — pinky up!
This latest version of Tarzan’s story will have the king of the jungle living as a British gent named John Clayton III in 1880s London with his wife, Jane (Margot Robbie), before he’s invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary. It’s then that he becomes entangled in a nefarious and deadly plot masterminded by Capt. Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz).
The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, John Hurt, and Djimon Hounsou. David Yates, who helmed the final four Harry Potter films and the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is directing.
The Legend of Tarzan is due in theaters next summer.
