"In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride," he continued. "So buckle your seat belts." (His former Saturday Night Live buddy Seth Meyers hosted last year.)

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star will have plenty of famous pals to poke fun of in the audience. He took home an Emmy in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category for his work on SNL in 2007. In addition, he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his FOX comedy last year.

Not a stranger to performing, Samberg also belted out The Lego Movie's theme song "Everything is Awesome" at the 87th Annual Academy Awards in February.

"The moment the Emmy Awards' host was brought up, we said it had to be Andy," FOX chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden said in a statement. "He is fearless, hilarious, an award-winning comedian, singer, writer and actor with incredible live TV experience. We know he’ll deliver the laughs and give viewers an incredible night they will enjoy."
