Cory and Topanga forever! Ben Savage shared a new photo of the Girl Meets World cast via Instagram on Thursday, Jan. 9. The actor — best-known for playing Cory Matthews in Boy Meets World from 1993 to 2000 — is set to reprise the role in its spin-off this year.
"Girl Meets World," the 33-year-old simply wrote. In the photo, Savage posed with his arm around his onscreen wife Danielle Fishel, 32, who will be reprising her role as Topanga Lawrence. The old-timers were also joined by their young cast and onscreen daughter Rowan Blanchard. It was announced exactly one year ago that the 12-year-old would be headed to the Disney Channel sitcom.
"As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews," GMW producer Michael Jacobs told Entertainment Weekly last January. "Rowan is real and accessible, and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well." (The spin-off from the 1990s series will now center on Blanchard, with Savage serving as her school's history teacher.)
Though class is back in session, there is a familiar face not present in the pic — Mr. Feeny! Actor William Daniels will not return full-time to teach the next generation about "doing good" instead of "doing well," but he will be making a special appearance in the show's pilot. As for Cory's best friend Shawn Hunter (played by Rider Strong?) The 34-year-old star revealed on his personal website in November 2012 that he won't officially be involved, but "can't wait to see it evolve."
