Caught between a rock and a hard place. Blake Lively battles a vicious shark in a horrifying new trailer for her upcoming movie The Shallows. The bikini-clad surfer heads to a secluded beach to catch some waves but ends up stranded on a giant rock in the middle of the ocean while the great white ominously circles her.
The clip shows the relaxing start to her day in “paradise” with sunny skies and crystal clear water. Lively’s character, Nancy, even FaceTimes her sister to let her know the beach is perfect, until things go terribly wrong.
The monstrous sea creature makes a grab at Nancy in the two-and-a-half minute trailer, but she manages to escape to the big boulder, unlike her two fellow surfers who are quickly devoured. While she’s not far from shore, it’s clear that if she tries to swim she’ll become instant shark bait. Alone on a deserted beach, the surfer uses her smarts and survival skills to come up with a plan, and she’s a total badass — even stabbing the giant beast. “I’m not dying here,” she yells.
Lively, 28, was first spotted with her baby bump while filming re-shoots for the movie in a fitted wetsuit in April. As Us Weekly exclusively confirmed, the actress is pregnant and expecting her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds. The couple are already the parents of 16-month-old daughter James.
The Gossip Girl alum posted a sneak peek of herself on set back in January. Lively was balancing on the famous rock with her shark-bitten body paint. “No, I wasn’t actually attacked by a shark. That definitely would’ve affected my 2015 …and my balance #TheShallows #Movie #BehindTheScenes P.S. How rad did I feel for not falling off the rock for this pic…,” she wrote on Instagram.
