If you jumped on Twitter during the Grammys 2016 to comment on any of the performances, then we hope you were kind — because as Jimmy Kimmel‘s “Mean Tweets” reminded us later that night, celebs have feelings too!
Blake Shelton, Meghan Trainor, Ricky Martin, Ed Sheeran and Lionel Richie were among the star-studded musical guests who contributed to the third music edition of the popular Mean Tweets segment — and it was pretty awesome.
Other big-name celebs to read out some of the meanest tweets they’ve ever received were Drake, One Direction and Kelly Clarkson.
Trainor was first up: “Meghan Trainor is like if the sassy girl you used to work with at Express just randomly had a singing career,” the 22-year-old read. Guess a Best New Artist Grammy makes these things easier to deal with, because the “All About That Base” singer just giggled.
But if Trainor got off lightly with her tweet, Shelton most certainly did not! “If I could choose to punch one piece of s–t in the face it would be Blake Shelton f–k that bloated a–hole,” blasted one foul-mouthed Twitter user.
Shelton decided to rise above the extremely harsh message and just smiled (and outstared anyone who was watching).
Sheeran, another Grammy winner of the night, also managed to shrug off his (very) mean tweet. “I can’t stand this new Ed Sheeran.. Like why TF are you happy on your records? You’re a f–kin ginger for f–k’s sake. Be sad,” he read, looking a little crestfallen.
Unlike Clarkson, who could barely read her critical message out because she was laughing so much. “Well Kelly Clarkson is on,” she read out, before collapsing in giggles. “Time to go poop.”
