Taking a page from Gwen Stefani’s book! Blake Shelton is channeling post-divorce emotions into his upcoming album. The country crooner, who split from Miranda Lambert in July and is now dating Stefani, is releasing a new single called “Came Here to Forget” on March 8.
According to a press release about the track, which is described as “an intimate snapshot of a couple’s encounter at a bar,” the song is Shelton’s most personal yet.
“I’ve had a lot of music over the years, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life,” Shelton explained, via the press release. “That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song.”

Shelton’s girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, is also dealing with divorce and newfound romance through her music. Following her August split from estranged husband Gavin Rossdale, the No Doubt frontwoman released the emotional “Used to Love You.” Stefani also penned catchy new track “Make Me Like You” about Shelton.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shelton confirmed his upcoming 12th studio album will be about his divorce and new relationship.
“If you have followed my career even a little bit in my life, you know what has happened with me in the last, gosh, eight or nine months,” Shelton told ET. “It is all on the record … I can put my life experience, whether it’s a divorce or my new girlfriend, whatever those experiences are, whatever things that are happening in my life, I have an outlet for them … I have music. I can write songs, I can sing about it.”
