Sometimes it helps to have a second opinion.
X Factor judge Britney Spears, 30, enlists the help of Grammy Award winner will.i.am, 37, in the October 10 episode of the FOX talent competition (airing at 8 p.m. EST).
“We were working in the studio on a song for my record,” Black Eyed Peas founder will.i.am says of Spears. “We were just chit-chatting about what we had going on this year and next year, and she mentioned the judge’s house. She asked if I would want to get down and mentor the kids with her. I was like, ‘Hell yeah!'”
The four permanent judges — Spears, Demi Lovato, 20, Simon Cowell, 53, and L.A. Reid, 56 — will each be assigned one of the new Season 2 categories and the 24 remaining acts will learn who their mentors are.
Spears and will.i.am — who collaborated on the song “Big Fat Bass” from Spears’ 2011 album, Femme Fatale — are confident with their group of performers. “The winner is definitely in my category,” Spears says.
Though Cowell has called Spears a mean judge, will.i.am doesn’t see it that way. “She’s just tough,” he explains.
The X Factor airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
