On the series' finale of The Hills, which aired Tuesday night on MTV, Brody Jenner and Kristin Cavallari have an emotional goodbye.
The pair — who have dated on and off since high school — seemed to be splitting for good.
But then cameras panned out to reveal their tears were taped on a movie studio lot. That Hollywood sign? Just a screen. Cavallari was seen energetically jumping out of the car and running back to Jenner.
Jenner — who is currently dating Avril Lavigne — played coy on the after show, "The thing is, as you saw on the end — what’s real and what's fake, you don’t know. Our relationship, the entire time could have been fake. That's one of the questions: what was real and what was fake, and we left it [open]."
Jenner told UsMagazine.com that he and Cavallari are friends. "We love each other, we're great friends. I'm friends with all the girls. We probably won't see each other as much because we won't be working together anymore. We'll all be doing separate things, but, of course, all of us are friends." He wasn't too bummed the show was going off the air.
"I feel like everyone feels: sad but at the same time very happy. Happy for the success the show has had over the past five years, and sad because it's going to be different not going to work every day, seeing the crew… they're like family… and that's the sad part," he said. "I'm ready to move on though and try something new, do something different and I think everyone else is too."
