Have even more time to kill? A game show based on the popular app Candy Crush is headed to CBS.

The new live-action series Candy Crush Saga will have teams of two match sweet treats in combinations of three or more to win points. The competition, like the original game, can go up to more than 2,000 levels.

Candy Crush game developer King, Wipeout creator Matt Kunitz and Lionsgate are behind the new project. The entertainment company has been developing the show for nearly two years.

"We are huge fans of Candy Crush and, like so many others, we know the 'rush' of advancing to the next level of the game," CBS President Glenn Geller said in a statement, via a press release. "We’re excited to work with Lionsgate and King to adapt one of the world’s most popular and entertaining game franchises for television and make it available to its massive, passionate fan base who can watch and play along at home."

Kunitz added: "The Candy Crush franchise lends itself perfectly to the kind of larger-than-life, physical game shows that I love to produce and CBS is the perfect home for it. As a Candy Crush Saga player myself, I am excited to amp up the action and visuals in our huge Candy Crush Arena."

Naturally, the news — which follows the success of this summer's Angry Birds film — spread quickly on social media. "Candy crush is getting a one hour TV show. normally I'd make a joke but none are needed for this one," one commenter wrote on Tuesday.

Others are even less thrilled. "CBS. No," a second critic wrote. "Candy Crush game show. No."

The Candy Crush Saga app launched in 2014 and instantly became an addictive hit. According to SurveyMonkey, it finally took a back seat in July when it was overtaken by Pokémon Go's success.
