A new Cruise is controlling the beats in Hollywood.
Connor Cruise, son of Tom Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman, worked the DJ booth Wednesday night at the third Nick HALO awards in Los Angeles. The annual event, chaired by Nick Cannon, honors teens around the country for their outstanding community activism and charity work.
But spinning is a semi-new career move for 16 year-old Cruise. Connor, whose working name is "DJ C-Squared", has been spinning records for nearly a year-and-a-half, he explained to Us Weekly at Wednesday's event.
After watching a friend deejay, the younger Cruise tried it out, "And I've been loving it ever since," he told Us. Cruise has already scored major gigs, like spinning at a July photo shoot with stepmom Katie Holmes in Los Angeles, where he reportedly played tons of Amy Winehouse tracks.
So how does dad Tom, 49, feel about "DJ C-Squared"? "He loves it!" said Connor, whose siblings include Isabella, 19, Cruise and Holmes' daughter Suri, 5, plus Kidman's daughters with second hubby Keith Urban Sunday Rose, 3, and Faith Margaret, 10 months. "He's great," Connor added of his famous dad. "I look up to him."
