‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’ Recap: Jessa Duggar and Husband Ben Seewald Plan Adoption, Jana Duggar Finds Marriage ‘Tempting’

Growing up is hard, but it can be harder still when you have enough siblings to field two entire baseball teams. On the Tuesday, March 22, episode of TLC’s Jill & Jessa: Counting On, there were projects galore to be tackled: Jessa Seewald and Jana Duggar set out to install new lighting throughout Jessa and husband Ben‘s home, the entire family, “from Jinger to Johannah,” were heading to Central America for missionary work, and Jessa and Ben were determined to go on their first real date since welcoming baby Spurgeon.

Oh, and Jana got grilled (by the production crew) about her dating life … or lack thereof.

Jana Doesn’t Want to Get Married to Just Anyone

At the ripe old age of 26, Jana really would like to settle down like her younger sisters, but she’s determined not to tie the knot until she meets Mr. Right. “Maybe, you know, I’ll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff,” she mused when asked where she saw her life five years from now.

“There have been different guys who’ve come along and asked,” she explained before adding, “but they haven’t been the right one, and so it’s just one of those things.” She went on to admit that being single can still be tough, however.

“I’m not just out to get married to the first one that comes along,” she revealed. “I mean, sometimes it can be tempting, in those moments where your siblings that are married and have little ones are going out on dates and doing their things.” She insisted that instead of obsessing over marriage, she’s “being busy where God has me right now.” Her immediate goal is to learn as much as she can and then “just go on with life.”

Jana Does More Than Cook and Take Care of Babies

In fact, she knows how to install canned lighting throughout a house and how to manage a construction crew — which is really saying something, considering her crew was made up of family members. (No word on whether their electrical work was up to code or not.)

After hatching a plan to add extra lights to Jessa and Ben’s home, Jana took the lead in directing the project, which had a few bumps, but went pretty well overall.

“I think all projects end up being a little bit more complicated than what you expect if you’re trying out something new,” she explained to the camera. Asked what she thought of the fact that people think all she does is cook and take care of babies, Jana laughed.

“I don’t always like to be on the forefront, but I enjoy the behind-the-scenes and working on different projects,” she mused. “I don’t only cook and take care of babies. Surprise!”

While she ran the construction team, the majority of the family members were in Central America on missionary work and visiting Jill and Derick Dillard. Though cameras didn’t follow them on their journey, it seemed to go well and they all returned safely, much to Jana’s relief. (She seemed really concerned about their travels.)

Jessa and Ben Enjoy Their First Date Since the Arrival of Baby Spurgeon

While Jessa and Ben used to go out together on the regular before the birth of their son, they revealed that they hadn’t had a date since his arrival. They decided it was time to bite the bullet and headed out to a joint called Tacos 4 Life. Though it wasn’t romantic, Ben pointed out that they “provide meals for people in Central America.”

Jessa, however, thought it was “a romantic date location,” regardless of its rather shabby appearance. During their date, they discussed the next item on the agenda: adoption.

“Usually, when your baby reaches about 9 months old, that’s when they ask you to come back and start your paperwork and everything,” Jessa said, referring to how soon they could start the process. Though they were currently focused on domestic adoption, they hope “in the future” to do international adoptions as well.

Luckily for the new parents, baby Spurgeon, 4 months, slept the entire time they noshed on their tacos, and at the end of the meal, they jointly declared their outing a success. The jury’s still out on whether their taco dates will continue once they begin to add to their brood.

Tell Us: Do you think it’s too soon for Jessa and Ben to start thinking about adoption?
