Nobody puts Abigail Breslin in a corner! The Oscar-nominated actress, 19, has signed on to star in ABC's musical reboot of the beloved 1987 film Dirty Dancing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Following in the recent trend of TV musicals, the upcoming three-hour event hails from Lionsgate TV and will see Breslin stepping into the role of the fleet-footed, jeans shorts–loving Baby, played in the film by Jennifer Grey. There is no word yet on who would play the part of dance instructor Johnny Castle, which became a signature character for the late Patrick Swayze.

The film's plot centers on Baby, who is on vacation at a Catskills resort with her family when she falls for the camp's dance teacher. It went on to make $213 million worldwide, earning an Oscar and a Golden Globe for its song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."

Dirty Dancing, which has yet to set a premiere date, will not be live, unlike other TV musical productions such as NBC’s recent The Wiz Live and Fox's upcoming Grease: Live, set to air in January. Also on the horizon is Fox's taped TV version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with Laverne Cox attached to star as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
