Juliana Aidén Martinez is weighing in on Special Agent Stuart Scola’s possible FBI exit, revealing how it could affect Eva’s job.

“It’s such a nuanced thing, right? Because it’s like one, I don’t want to lose the person that has been my partner, and I thought could be the person that I lean on [as] the stable force in my life,” Martinez, who plays Eva Ramos on the hit CBS series, exclusively told Us on Friday, November 6.

The 36-year-old actress addressed the possibility of Scola (John Boyd) leaving the New York City FBI branch to support his wife, Nina Chase (Shantel Van Santen) following her job offer to lead a team in San Diego.

She noted that Eva also doesn’t want to “stop someone from losing their family or stopping this other woman from pursuing her dreams.”

During the Monday, November 2, episode of FBI, Scola admitted that he told Nina not to take the job before Eva advised him to trust her decision and make it work no matter the cost.

If Nina does take the gig, it could mean a shift at 26 Fed and Scola’s departure, which Martinez told Us is the worst case scenario.

“Eva finally opens her mouth and gives personal advice to her partner and is [tells him], ‘You can’t stop this woman from pursuing her dreams,’” she recalled. “And I think Eva’s like someone who’s very much a champion for women because of her mom because of her experiences that she could never put herself in a position to put another woman back.” (During the upcoming Monday, November 9, episode, fans will get to see why Eva has a complicated relationship with her mother amid a case involving a woman who has been brainwashed by the man she loves.)

Martinez confessed that Eva “also she doesn’t want to lose her partner,” teasing, “She’s in a tough spot of, like, she’s happy for them, and then she’d also be crushed if she lost Scola.”

While Martinez played coy about what will happen for Scola and Nina — and his partnership with Eva — she confirmed, “The answer will come this season.”

Looking forward, Martinez said that her character “doesn’t want to lose her Boy Scout,” telling Us that her ability to trust men again is heavily impacted by her friendship with Scola.

“Eva has such resiliency. She is a believer in love, but I don’t just mean romantic love,” the star explained, hinting that Eva will bounce back if she has to get a new partner. “She’s just like a believer in, like, if I keep trying, there’ll be someone there for me. There’ll be a partner for me. There’ll be someone romantically in my life one day that will be there for me.”

Martinez said Eva has not “given up that fight” for her own happiness, but when it comes to her dynamic with Scola, “She definitely doesn’t want to lose [him].”

While Scola’s future is very much up in the air, Martinez assured Us that fans will see “some more partnership episodes” between him and Eva this season.

“This is a season of digging deeper, you know, and really kind of creating a stronger and stronger foundation,” she said. “Or a stronger soil because we are digging deeper into her past, digging deeper into our partnerships, with [coworkers] Maggie and OA, and then with Eva and Scola.”

FBI airs on CBS Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
