The gang is (mostly) getting back together! CBS renewed long-running drama Criminal Minds for the 2016–17 season on Friday, May 6, although without a fan-favorite character.

The police procedural — which premiered in September 2005 and aired its season 11 finale on Wednesday, May 4 — stars Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness. Original cast member Shemar Moore left the show in March, as his character, Derek Morgan, exited the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit to devote more time to his family.
CBS has a number of series on the bubble as the networks prepare for upfronts later this month. Still yet to earn pickups for the upcoming season from the Tiffany Network are CSI: Cyber, Code Black, Limitless, Rush Hour, Supergirl and Criminal Minds spinoff Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
