‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival’s New Pics Drop Big Hints About Rory’s Future: Why Is She Back at Chilton?

Grab your coffee, and call your mom — we’ve got exciting news from Stars Hollow. Gilmore Girls‘ Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) — a.k.a. TV’s favorite caffeine-addled mother-daughter duo — are returning Friday, November 25. But for those who simply can’t wait another second, we have a sneak peek at scenes from the four-part Netflix revival.

Newly released Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life photos show off the latest antics of Lorelai and Rory, not to mention the rest of our favorite characters. So what has the gang been up to for the past 10 years? We’ve got theories.

One photo shows Rory and high school enemy Paris (Liza Weil) in what appears to be a serious conversation with Headmaster Charleston (Dakin Matthews) at Chilton. Since the girls are a few years too old for detention, what gives? Well, Paris is decked out in a blazer and fancy briefcase, and paired with her new hairdo, it looks like she clearly means business.

Is she there for a job interview? The briefcase seems to say so. Is she there because Rory’s visiting and she wanted to rub in how successful she is? More likely. Are we excited to see how the women will behave toward one another now that they’re all grown up? Definitely.

Of course, we can’t forget about Lorelai’s bumpy relationship with her mother, Emily (Kelly Bishop). The two look particularly unhappy in one teaser photo, as they stare straight ahead, facing forward on the couch with unsettled expressions. It seems like there’s someone else in front of them either delivering some unfavorable news or doing something disappointing. But we also kind of hope that there’s no one else in the room, and this is just a tension-filled moment so awkward that the ladies can’t even look at each other.

And then there are the boys. Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Luke (Scott Patterson) are back, sitting across from one another at the diner. There’s no food or coffee on the table, but who needs nourishment when you’ve got what appears to be either a stern or uncomfortable conversation instead?

We’d love to know what the nephew-uncle pair is talking about. … Is Jess dating Rory? Is Luke jealous of Jess’ perfect hair? Is Luke dating Lorelai? Is Jess telling Luke that his wardrobe consisting only of backward hats and flannels is not OK for a grown man? Or is Luke asking Jess to be the best man at his future wedding because he’s definitely going to marry Lorelai?! We might’ve taken it too far on that one, but it’s what we’re all hoping for, right?
