Heated Rivalry star Dylan Walsh is speaking out after accidentally sharing details about upcoming episodes.
“I was speaking off the cuff in a Cameo and should not have speculated about the production schedule or episode count,” Walsh, 62, told Variety in a statement on Thursday, August 13.
Walsh, who plays David Hollander on the beloved series based on Rachel Reid’s novels, shared that he got “in trouble” for revealing too much in a video for recent celebrity video app Cameo.
“I don’t have any official information to announce, and I’m sorry for creating confusion for the production and the fans,” the former Nip/Tuck star said in a statement. “My Cameo account is paused for now. I’m incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding Heated Rivalry and proud to be part of the series.”
In Walsh’s now-viral Cameo video, he shared that he was “getting ready to go back up to Canada and shoot some more episodes.”
“I think we are doing 12 this time,” he said in the video, which has been shared via X.
The comment led some fans to speculate that the cast could be filming two seasons, or that season 2 could be split in half, as creator Jacob Tierney previously said he doesn’t want to make more than six episodes per season.
“I don’t need to do 10 [episodes in a season],” Tierney, 46, told the Los Angeles Times in February. “I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey. I would rather be like, ‘Let’s see how much story we can pack into these episodes.’”
Fans of the show know that Walsh’s faux-paus was fitting, given that a celebrity video app plays a role in Reid’s sequel The Long Game. The series centers around fictional hockey players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) who are rivals turned lovers.
“Long Game is … so long and it’s so gamey, like eating venison,” Tierney joked during an April appearance at BookCon 2026 in New York City, per Entertainment Weekly. “It really is different … and the challenge, from an adaptation standpoint, is you’re in much more serious territory. There’s still lots of flirting, and there’s lots of sex, but it’s this kind of danger. This kind of ‘hotel room, adolescent sex’ stuff is largely gone.”
Heated Rivalry season 2 is expected to premiere in spring 2027 on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the United States and internationally.
