They’re back! Here Comes Honey Boo Boo returns for a second season on TLC Wednesday, July 17, and to prep for the big event, the “beautimous” Mama June Shannon stopped by Us Weekly‘s New York City offices on Tuesday, July 16. The Georgia-based reality star opened up about her famous family and revealed how she keeps her wild and crazy daughters level-headed.
“A lot of the money for the girls is in trust funds equally,” Shannon said of Anna (“Chickadee”), Jessica (“Chubbs”), Lauryn (“Pumpkin”) and Alana (“Honey Boo Boo”). Adding that her granddaughter Kaitlyn is also being taken care of financially, Shannon said, “They get it when they reach a certain age. The only thing that we’ve really splurged on is we bought three new four-wheelers — and they’ve been used four-wheelers at that.”
Shannon, 33, also hinted that Alana, 7, may be outgrowing child beauty pageants. (The family was first featured on Toddlers & Tiaras before getting a spinoff in the summer of 2012.)
“I don’t know if Alana is done with pageants or not,” she admitted. “She is like any other girl — they get interested in this and that. . . She’s just adventuring out into other things.”
The matriarch said she’s most proud of the fact that her girls are still “the same people” they were before the show. “It can end as quick as it begins,” she said of their sudden fame. “I don’t think we’re going anywhere anytime soon, but you never know.”
Watch the video above now to hear more from Shannon, and tune in for the Season 2 premiere of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on Wednesday, July 17, at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
