The (fictionalized) James Van Der Beek doesn’t want to wait for a Dawson’s Creek reunion — so he’s taken it upon himself to get the ball rolling.

TV Guide reports that Busy Philipps will appear on the season premiere of Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 after Van Der Beek (who plays a caricature of himself on the sitcom) attempts to recreate his glory days by gathering his former Dawson’s costars.

“We have a big season premiere episode that’s dealing with James potentially trying to do a Dawson’s reunion and his version of what that would look like,” the show’s creator, Nahnatchka Khan, tells TV Guide, adding that they’d love to see Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes sign on too.

A reunion within a sitcom featuring all of the hit drama’s major players — or a stand-alone special itself — might not be such a pipe dream after all. Van Der Beek, Williams and Holmes have all spoken out in the past about possibly reprising the roles that launched them to stardom.

In mid-July, Williams told folks she would “very happily do a reunion show” at a Comic-Con press conference.

“I would very happily do a reunion show, I don’t know what it would be,” the Take This Waltz star, 31, told the crowd, laughing as she added, “My character died in the end, so there are certain limitations for me. It’s either I come back as a ghost or I’m shot through a lot of gauzy, hazy light as my nineteen-year-old self.”

Continued the actress, “I’ve always said that I would really love to and I think independently, we’ve all been saying that. So at some point I hope that it does happen [as] . . . a way to honor the past and what a big deal it was for the four or five of us and what a big deal it was for the people who watched it.”

Holmes has also expressed an interest in revisiting her old character, Joey Potter.

“It would be fun,” the Holmes & Yang designer, 33, told Robin Roberts during a Good Morning America interview last fall. “I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories.”
