At least he remembers her name! Jay Leno recalled an awkward story from when he was host of The Tonight Show, while speaking to Craig Ferguson on Friday, Dec. 19.
"Did you ever get tired?" Ferguson, 52, asked the now-retired late-night host about interviewing thousands of guests. "You ever glass over when they were talking sometimes?"
Unlike Ferguson, who blamed himself for spacing out during conversations, Leno faulted his guests for being terrible.
"No, it was the people on the show!" Leno, 64, exclaimed. "The classic example is I had one of these reality stars on… Trista! From one of these Bachelorettes… So, I'm sitting and I'm looking at the side of her head. I couldn't be less interested. I've never seen this stupid reality show — you know what it was."
(Trista Sutter rose to fame as the first-ever Bachelorette in 2003. The mom of two kids — son Maxwell, 7, and daughter Blakesley, 5 — just celebrated her 11th wedding anniversary with winning suitor Ryan Sutter, who also recently told Us Weekly that he no longer watches the show. "I don't really get too invested in it," the firefighter told Us. "I don’t have anything against it. I just usually have something else to do.")
After the two exchanged pleasantries, Leno ended his show and walked out to his car. "I go out in the parking lot and there's this woman standing next to me." Leno, however, didn't realize it was his evening's guest — Trista (formerly Rehn).
