Still got it! Jean-Claude Van Damme stopped by Conan on Monday, May 11, and showed off some moves that he first debuted more than 26 years ago.
The Belgian actor, 54, slipped back into his character from the 1989 classic Kickboxer at the request of host Conan O’Brien. In the campy martial arts movie, Van Damme plays a rising kickboxing star who competes in Thailand, facing off against the country’s fiercest fighters in a quest to avenge his fallen brother.
“There’s a scene in Kickboxer — it’s one of my favorite scenes and I think you’re going to know what I’m talking about — where the guy who’s training you wants you to dance. It’s a terrific scene,” O’Brien, 52, explained, queuing up the action sequence in which Van Damme is shown breaking it down and shaking his hips in a bar before he is approached by angry, tough-looking patrons.
One local shoves the fighter from behind, but he promptly fights back without missing a dance beat, bobbing and weaving as he does the splits and boogies.
“I still got the moves,” the Double Impact star promised on Conan. O’Brien then asked Van Damme to prove it, inspiring him to get up from his chair and dust off the old footwork.
Wearing a baseball cap bearing his initials and showing off his still-impressive muscles in a tight long-sleeved shirt, the veteran star does, in fact, have the moves. Watch him dance and take down rivals in the video above!
