But what some fans might not be prepared for is how creepy the trailer feels, thanks to the narration by a spooky Scarlett Johansson, who plays the snake, Kaa.

Neel Sethi plays Mowgli in the live-action Jungle Book.

“Are you alone out here? What are you doing so deep in the jungle?” she asks at the beginning of the clip.

When it finally comes time for the serpent to show herself, she is massive, lording over the young Mowgli, flicking her tongue out in a menacing fashion.

But that doesn’t mean there’s not a little trace of the feel-good original we know and love. At the very end of the 2-minute teaser clip, we see Mowgli sitting on top of the bear Baloo’s (voiced by Bill Murray) stomach as he floats down the river singing “The Bare Necessities.”
