David Blaine‘s illusions have to be seen to be believed — and even then you’ll think your eyes are playing tricks on you. In his new ABC special, David Blaine: Real or Magic, which aired Tuesday, Nov. 19, the famed illusionist performed mind-blowing stunts for stars including Katy Perry, Kanye West, Will and Jada Smith, Jamie Foxx, Aaron Paul, and Bryan Cranston, all of whom responded with bewildered, jaw-dropping amazement. (Even West, the self-proclaimed No. 1 rock star in the world, was impressed!)
In one of his freakiest stunts of the night, the illusionist stuck a very real, very sharp ice pick through his hand without drawing any blood. (See the trick in the video above!)
Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith were appropriately horrified and amazed all at once. Their jaws practically hit the floor as they watched Blaine poke the object through his “bloodless” hand.
Even rapper West, 36, was awestruck by the stunt. He was rendered nearly silent; toward the end, when Blaine asked him to pull the ice pick out of his hand, he let out a nervous, somewhat incredulous laugh.
The most enthusiastic reaction, though, came from Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul, who “oohed” and “ahhed” over the ice-pick trick. “That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life, obviously,” he exclaimed afterward.
“This special probably has the best reactions I’ve ever had in my life,” Blaine told Us Weekly recently of Real or Magic. Then, referring to the celebs who watched the ice-pick stunt, he added: “The reactions that they have are just the best I’ve ever seen. It’s a side to them we’ve never seen.”
