Greetings from the Dolby Theatre! Lady Gaga sent some love to fiance Taylor Kinney on Sunday, Feb. 22, when she walked the red carpet at the 2015 Oscars. Stopping to chat with ABC before the big event, the newly engaged “You and I” singer gave a sweet shout-out to her leading man, who was watching from home.
“He’s wonderful,” she gushed. Asked whether she’d had any time to start planning the wedding, the performer — in custom Alaia and Lorraine Schwartz jewels — smiled and said she’d been busy rehearsing for her performance at the Academy Awards. “He’s been wonderfully supportive,” she added.
Then, turning to the camera, she gave a little wave, showing off the long red gloves that covered up her engagement ring. “Hi, honey!” she exclaimed. “He’s at home watching me.”
As previously reported, Gaga is set to do a Sound of Music-themed number during the show. A source tells Us Weekly that the classic “My Favorite Things” will be included in the performance, which is pegged to the 50th anniversary of the movie musical’s release in 1965.
Kinney couldn’t be in the audience to watch — he has to work tomorrow, according to Gaga — but he’ll be watching and applauding from home. He and the “Born This Way” songstress got engaged just a little over a week ago, on Valentine’s Day, when he proposed with a huge, heart-shaped diamond.
“He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day, and I said YES!” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a close-up picture of her engagement ring, which also features the couple’s initials, T and S, in white diamonds on the band.
