Law & Order: SVU’s Amanda Rollins Debuts Her Baby, Played by Kelli Giddish’s Real-Life Child: Watch!

A new member of the force! Law & Order: SVU‘s Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) introduces her newborn baby to the team in the Wednesday, January 20, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s sneak-peek clip.

The scene from the long-running NBC drama series begins as a joyous moment but quickly turns uncomfortable, as the detective’s coworkers don’t sugarcoat anything about the realities of raising a child.

“Enjoy maternity, Amanda — when my sister had to go back to work, it was, like, the most wrenching thing,” Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) says.

The adorable baby is actually played by Giddish’s real-life bundle of joy. The 35-year-old actress and husband Lawrence Faulborn welcomed their first child, son Ludo, in October, and Giddish’s costar Ice T (Odafin Tutuola) and his wife, Coco Austin, were among the first people to hold the little one.

The January 20 episode was directed by the show’s star Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson). Law & Order: SVU‘s 17th season airs on NBC on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
