October 3 can't come soon enough for diehard fans of ABC's Scandal, affectionately dubbed The Gladiators — Lisa Kudrow included! Set to join ABC's buzzy Washington, D.C.-set drama in a recurring role, Kudrow is on the edge of her seat in the weeks leading up to season 3's premiere. Not just to see just who leaked Olivia Pope's name as Fitz's mistress, but also for fans to find out more about her under wraps character arc.
"Here's what I can tell you [about season 3]: I'm on it," Friends alum Kudrow, 50, quipped during an interview with Arsenio Hall. "I mean, I don't know if they made up those secret groups who go around and kill people [on the show]. Maybe they exist! I'm just going to follow orders. It's Shondaland – I'm afraid," Kudrow admitted, referring to Scandal's notoriously tight-lipped creator Shonda Rhimes.
Three weeks after Deadline.com first confirmed Kudrow's casting, the actress told talk show host Hall that she won't necessarily be settling into the D.C. fold for very long. "I'm just visiting!" confirmed Kudrow, who produces the Showtime comedy Web Therapy and TLC's family ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are?.
In other Scandal news, recurring season 2 cast member Scott Foley will see his character Jake Ballard upped to a series regular this fall. Kudrow, for one, is anxious to see how unresolved mysteries — including the fate of Foley's Ballard, who was last seen thrown into an isolation hole — play out. Says Kudrow: "Isn't it a thrilling show?! That's why I wanted to do it, because it's so thrilling to watch!"
Scandal's third season premieres Oct. 3 at 10 p.m. (EST) on ABC.
