Meghan McCain is not impressed with her former colleagues at The View for how they handled Vice President JD Vance’s appearance.
“My biggest takeaway from Vance on The View is honestly how s****y and undisciplined the hosts STILL ARE,” McCain, 41, wrote via X on Tuesday, June 16. “After all these years, they still get basic facts wrong, flub easy questions and can’t get through a segment without yelling at each other.”
According to McCain, who served as a conservative cohost on The View for four seasons between 2017 and 2021, “Vance handled it all very well.”
Us Weekly has reached out to The View for comment.
When announcing her exit from the show in July 2021, McCain said she was “eternally grateful to have had this opportunity here.”
In October 2023, however, she told The Messenger that she doesn’t watch The View “at all,” claiming she doesn’t “have time to watch this kind of content.”
On Tuesday, the vice president of the United States made his first appearance on ABC’s daytime talk show in promotion of his new book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.
While several cohosts of The View have been critical of the Trump administration, moderator Whoopi Goldberg expressed gratitude to Vance for agreeing to appear on the show.

“This show has invited thousands of guests with all kinds of diverse points of view, and we have been asking our next guest to join us for a while now,” she said. “We’re glad that he’s taken up on the offer today.”
Vance replied with a laugh, “This is a show of MAGA Republicans, right? … That’s what my media team told me.”
The View cohosts, which also include Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin, discussed a variety of topics with Vance during his appearance.
One hot topic was President Donald Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. According to Vance, the White House has been “committed to full transparency.”
“We have to remember I was inside of the room when some of these decisions were made,” Vance claimed on Tuesday. “One of the things that you see in the Epstein emails is that Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald Trump and that Donald Trump literally reported Jeffrey Epstein to the police. That’s one of the things that came out of these files.”
When Navarro, 54, claimed Trump, 80, and Epstein were best friends for almost a decade, Vance shared his perspective.
“He knew Jeffrey Epstein back in the 1980s. He also threw Jeffrey Epstein out of his club when he found out he was a creep and reported him to the police,” Vance further claimed. “That’s something the media often misses when they report on this story.”
Other topics included Black history month, the United States’ immigration system and how Vance’s Catholic faith plays a role in his politics.
