Another awards season sweep on the way? Natalie Portman won Best Actress for her role as Jackie Kennedy in the drama Jackie during the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday, December 11.
“To my parents and my husband and my son, the most important people in the world to me,” she said on stage. “Thank you so much.” For the special night, Portman chose to wear a billowy black-and-red Alexander McQueen dress and Steve Madden heels.
Earlier in the night, host T.J. Miller dressed up as the late former first lady and called out Portman in the crowd. “I was going to ask her who wore it best. Clearly she did,” he said. “Your performance of Jackie in Jackie was just — it reminded us of what incredible women can be, are, and will continue to be. I just thought it was amazing.”
Portman last picked up a Critics’ Choice for her work in 2011’s Black Swan. Pregnant with Aleph at the time, she went on to also win a Golden Globe and her first Academy Award for the Darren Aronofsky–directed ballet thriller.
History might be repeating itself. On Monday, the star snagged a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture or Drama category for Jackie. She’s up against Amy Adams (Arrival), Jessica Chastain (Miss Sloane), Ruth Negga (Loving) and Isabelle Huppert (Elle).
