Neil Patrick Harris Challenges Daughter Harper to Oscar Bet, Loses $20: Cute Video

Pay up, dad! This year's Oscar host Neil Patrick Harris lost a nomination bet to his 4-year-old daughter, Harper. Watch the adorable video now!

There’s no question Neil Patrick Harris will knock it out of the park as host of the 2015 Oscarsbut his odds-making skills, on the other hand, could use a little work.

"The Oscar nominations came out this morning, and that can only mean one thing," Harris, 41, admitted in an adorable video posted to his Twitter page on Thursday, Jan. 15. "I just lost $20. Here you go, Harper." On hand to take her dad’s money, a gleeful 4-year-old Harper offered a polite 'thank you' and smile in return. Why the loss? "I had my money on you, Sven Yorgen Finster . . . [as] best credit designer of a foreign language film.'"

Kidding aside, the 2015 Oscar nominations were a surprise to many, with noted snubs including Jennifer Aniston and Amy Adams, who were projected to earn Best Actress nods for their respective roles in Cake and Big Eyes.

The acclaimed Selma was recognized in the Best Picture and Best Original Song categories, but the film's director, Ava DuVernay, and star, David Oyelowo, failed to earn individual nominations. Following Thursday morning's announcement, the Internet was ablaze with chatter over the fact that this year, not a single person of color received recognition in an acting category. Fans of the Lego Movie were also up in arms over that hit's absence from the Best Animated Film category.

As Harris predicts, the Feb. 22 trophy-fest will one to watch. "Anything can happen," the How I Met Your Mother star hinted in a new show promo released Thursday.
