Nicole Kidman talked with Access Hollywood about Jimmy Fallon's "hilarious" reaction to their failed date

Nicole Kidman was just as amused as everyone else by Jimmy Fallon's reaction to the story of their failed date. Speaking with Access Hollywood on Thursday, Jan. 8, two days after her now-viral appearance on The Tonight Show, the Paddington actress said she couldn't believe they both had such different interpretations of what that first meeting was supposed to be.

"His face was hilarious," she said of the late-night host's shocked expression upon finding out that he missed his chance with the Australian stunner. "I was there. I watched him. He didn't edit anything out."

As millions of people have seen by now — the YouTube clip has 12.4 million views and counting! — Kidman appeared on The Tonight Show to promote her new movie, but ended up instead recounting the story of how, several years ago, she went over to Fallon's apartment for what she thought was a casual but potentially romantic "hang." Unfortunately, the Saturday Night Live alum didn't get the memo. He was under the impression that she wanted to discuss a role in the movie Bewitched, and therefore made no effort to woo her.

"I can't believe that it's two people that so misread the same situation," the now-married actress told Access Hollywood. (She and husband Keith Urban have two kids together; she also shares two kids with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)

Kidman added that she originally had no intention of bringing up that story, saying she thought they'd just talk about "Paddington and Nashville and stuff like that."

"I didn't mention this [in the pre-interview] or anything," she said. "I was just like, 'I think I'll just bring this up, because there we go.'"
