Dobrev has played leading lady Elena Gilbert since its pilot in 2009. During her time in Mystic Falls, she's bounced back and forth between vampire brothers Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), dated Somerhalder in real life for three years, got nasty as Katherine Pierce, and drank, well, lots and lots of blood.

The Degrassi alum celebrated her time on the long-running CW vampire series with a lakeside bash in Atlanta, Ga., over the weekend. Some of the cast and crew (plus creator Julie Plec) partied on a boat, drank up, and even took a few swings at a unicorn piñata.

"I want to share this goodbye with all of you (this weekend's pictures were just the beginning)," Dobrev, 26, captioned an Instagram photo Monday. "You, the wonderful fandom who gave more love, support and passion than anyone could have ever imagined seven years ago, when a young Degrassi girl from Canada showed up in LA to audition for 'that Twilight TV show."

Stelena and Delena shippers galore were left both confused and sad about Dobrev's announcement. In response, they posted loving comments, tearful goodbyes, and hilarious GIFs from the vamp-tastic show via Twitter. Read the reactions below:
