Capturing the beauty of the late Princess Diana is no easy task, but Naomi Watts has managed to do just that.
The 43-year-old actress has completely transformed herself to star as the beloved royal in an upcoming biopic. In the first official movie stills, Watts styles Princess Diana's signature short, wavy blond hair. Wearing stunning sapphire earrings, she looks elegant in a classic black evening gown.
The famous mother of princes William and Harry tragically passed away at the age of 36 in an August 1997 car crash. Diana famously divorced Prince Charles in August 1996.
Recently changing titles from Caught in Flight to Diana, the Oliver Hirschbiegel-directed film examines the last two years of Diana's life and her relationship with Dr. Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews). He was said to be the love of her life, but the couple split after two years in 1997. She rebounded with billionaire Dodi Al Fayed, who died with her in the crash.
"It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role," Watts said in a February statement. "Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen."
